@kolshix: Actually, direct donations earn a HELL of a lot more than ad revenue which is dependent on people not using adblock, actually clicking on ads, etc. Using patreon the artist gets the pledged dollars at a set interval, regardless of whether or not the person pledging has seen the work that month or week, and as long as they don't unpledge. There are artists making 10x what you could make on your own website via Patreon. The rough estimates I've seen ballpark around $10 per 1,000 page views. Midnight_on_Mars here is making over $100 a month from 26 people. That's exponential by comparison.
