@Alias23: Considering they should already have plenty of spares, she shouldn't have had to... but then again, if she's learned anything from NERV, everyone is replaceable.
And there's always the possibility that the "real" Rei stayed at NERV and sent a fake one back to Touji. But I doubt NERV would bother making him happy.

This Touji is no doubt the luckiest version of Touji, I'm really glad she was able to get back to him although I'm afraid of how she was "replaced", perhaps even this version of Rei at the end is actually one different Rei with info about what she lived with Suzuhara.
