Because some people look and think "omfg! This pony crap again!" And immediately give it a low rating.

This whole series was a treat to read and watching suirano's art evolve over the course of the series is what I love to see happen :) could've been worse and the old art could've just stayed the same and would've had developed a bad rep like some artists that I won't name but some can guess.

Why do you keep posting Patreon only content? Pretty sure that is against TOS for the site.

@DO2012

If you bothered to check your facts, you'd find that free versions of comics and patreon versions of comics tend to differ with Patreon versions either being of a higher resolution or containing extra pages compared to those released in the free version. This is often the case for Suirano when they release their comics. The reason artists tend to do this for their artwork is to a) give their fans ways to experience their work without leaving some out because they can't afford to pay for art whilst b) rewarding those that chose to support the artist by paying money to them through patreon with higher quality version or extra, exclusive pages.

By doing what VriskaSerket has done here, they are actually hurting the artist as people will chose to simply not support the artist on patreon (or by other means) as one rogue person will upload the artwork for free somewhere and ultimately discourage the artist from making more work as they either can't afford to or don't see the reason to as people will just bypass supporting them in favour of effectively "pirating" the work. What also don't help is when you try to get work this is against TOS down and people either work against you doing so, or just ignore request to take it down.

Again, check your facts before making a statement about why someone is wrong.

Well if you bothered to know anything about the artist and his release schedule you'd know the comic is released for free on his Tumblr some time after its release on Patreon anyways, meaning it's technically not Patreon exclusive content, or rather, won't be for very long. It would be kinda pointless to try to take this comic down for that when in a few days it's going to be available to everyone everywhere anyways.

In other words: take five minutes to fact check before you post your comment.

Edit: @EvilScotsman12
You think I don't know that? You assume too little of me. I'm fully aware Patreon versions often have higher resolution. I just don't give a shit. Also, I don't see anything here that qualifies as a bonus image. Unless it's that alternate ending thing.

Personally, I hardly see how higher resolution is considered a good reward when you're ultimately looking at the same picture anyways. That is unless the lower resolution version looks like it was made in Minecraft, and I can't say I've ever seen an artist do that. That said, I have seen other Patreon content get taken down on this site, but only when it truly was Patreon exclusive. Unique stuff that isn't supposed to be seen by anyone but Patreon subscribers. Pictures and comics only they are supposed to have, not just "higher resolution versions" that I would assume most sensible people don't actually care that much about. Then again I'm too poor to support someone's Patreon and haven't ever gotten the higher resolution images so maybe I'm just talking out of my penniless skinny pale white ass. Frankly, I think anyone willing to pay actual money just to get the same art in slightly higher clarity could and should be spending their money on much more fulfilling things, and I sincerely hope that's not all a given artist has to offer as incentive to subscribe to their Patreon, cause that's really not much to go on.

Believe me, if this was truly Patreon exclusive and I could afford it I probably would subscribe just to get this, even if only temporarily. But it's not, and in any case it's going to be widespread available soon enough. So if the admins want to take this submission down for that just for someone to upload the lower resolution one at a later date then I am perfectly fine with that. If this actually was Patreon exclusive and not just something that will be submitted for free later "under lower resolution" then I would support taking it down, but it's not, so I don't. As it stands even if it is taken down the free version will be up later, so I don't really give a flying fuck one way or the other,since I'm getting my free comic either way.

That said, I can tell you're probably one of those people whose going to continue arguing with me about this, and I'm gonna say right now I don't feel like wasting my time with you any further. I could be sitting around doing nothing and it would be a better use of my time. I could be sitting here jacking off to this comic that we are discussing the practically non-existent ethical ramifications of submitting early and it would be a better and more enjoyable use of my time. In fact, I'm going to do that right now.

What EvilScotman12 is saying is that the bonus ending was a Patreon reward and wouldn't have been posted on Tumblr with the free version. Patreon donators got extra pages as a reward for helping me along with early access. Even after the comic would be posted, donators could still get those extra page or two. That is the Patreon content being mentioned. However, I also stated that if those that donated wanted to post the extra pages, they could.

I never have expected many to donate to my comic so I never bothered to care about the stuff being posted. I've never really held my work in any high success to warrant being worried about being financially hurt.

@Suirano
Oh my. Um, never expected the author and artist themselves to respond to me. Um, well... Yeah, I feel super awkward and embarrassed now. You know, internet fight... Sorry if I got insensitive. I get impulsive online even when I try not to and I'm always trying to work on that.

Well, as I said in my edit (that I did before seeing your comment since I was working on it before you posted and only finished after you posted), I probably would subscribe to your Patreon myself for extra content and the like if I could afford it, but I really don't feel like just higher resolution images are worth it since I'm one of those gamers that feels an obsession with graphical quality is what's ruining a lot of triple A games, hence I've come to accept that lower graphical quality is worth it if the final product still looks fine. Basically, higher resolution is really only worth it to me if you have enough disposable income to afford it, and I don't. So, that's why I don't feel high resolution stuff is really worth it.

I really do like your art, and look forward to more of your stuff in the future. I honestly hope I can support your Patreon one day, among several others.

@DO2012

I only made the Patreon for donations after my Paypal got limited from someone reporting me. Had that never happened, I would have never even made a Patreon. Either way, the higher resolution thing isn't something I use the Patreon for. It is mostly earlier access to images and projects that I am doing. I still am trying to figure out what to do with it now that Temptation is over mostly. Because people cannot afford it is why I released a free version in the first place, because I don't wish to be a paywall artist that blocks all my content behind paying however I also wish to reward those nice enough to donate to me and help me with my life problems. That is really all that it is.
