@ kieyzo not as explicitly on the emotions... but yeah, the fusion and then the jasper coming back sounding like an ex from a co-abusive relationship that wants to get back together. But instead of the witty rejection, Lapis mostly just punted jasper into the ocean as a 'no'.

Now- spoiler character analysis below

Jasper is an interesting character when you look at the circumstances of her creation. She was born from a rushed kindergarten at the end of the war, just pumping out soldiers without a care for quality (as seen by the fact that the holes they came out of looking all jank and deformed). Jasper, however, had the PERFECT hole- she was born perfectly formed and FLEXING. She was the one perfect gem from a pile of rejects. And I think that fucked her up.

This is like a family with the one smart, 'good' kid that gets all the attention and the other ignored 'black sheep'. Jasper saw what happened to the other, poor quality gems born beside her (used as canon fodder? Shattered as raw material?). And she realizes that it was a miracle she came out right, and if she wasn't this strong, she would have ended up like them. She had to always make sure she was 'good enough' so she didn't get discarded. As such, she most likely has MASSIVE abandonment issues by proxy.

Taking that mentality into malachite, she felt a new power, greater than her own. But this experience was confined by her own mindset- she always had to be the 'best', so she became obsessed with being malachite so she could have that power. She also, most likely, wanted a relationship outside of herself, but she could never do so properly since the caste system of homeworld makes it hard to interact with people as equals. So having a relationship with a person equal to yourself, because she is a PART of your 'self'... must seem attractive. At the same time, the fact that lapis doesn't want to rejoin into malachite must simply set that abandonment complex ablaze.

I don't get it, exactly how is this SJW cancer? To me, this is just an opinionn on what was going on between Lapis and Jasper.

@rabidtanker to me, it seems to be a logical scenario that could show up in the canon of SU. This could have been a direct episode to occur right after the boat episode where Jasper returned.

Well, DC8492, I wanted to admit that this could logically be canon from that boat episode, but it seems that lemeres beat me to that by an few hours. Besides, there's hardly anything stopping the writers from using an flashback that went along the lines of this comic to explain what Lapis was doing in the barn while most of the Crystal Gems were away.

...Except that this idea takes place within an narrow time frame at worst and we need Lapis displaying from some type of emotional trauma to justify this flashback if there will be an episode of what Jasper was doing aside from building an army.

But it's amazing in how great of an story can be squeezed into 11-ish minutes. I blame the art style of the background and how long the show has been on the airwaves.

@Nekohunter33 I wished you hadn't gotten the downvote hell. Just proves your point, really, and you do have a point that I think people missed. I get what you're saying, if I'm right, "this comic is great [by association the show is too], why are the fans so terrible?". The reason is, because the loud few are cancer [welcome to the internet]. Go figure.

If you're a fan of this show, do better than downvote or throwing shade at people because the creators/viewers don't heed your specific opinions of how the show/fanbase should be. Cancer fans like you are why Lauren Zuke took down her twitter, why Ian and Rebecca had to field so many "fans" slamming fans controversies. Be better.

@sukebi

Yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that a show that explicitly deals with issues of transgenderism, self-image, toxic relationships, and society's roles and expectations probably aren't avoiding the internet because of "SJWs." I hate to break it to you, but they _are_ the SJWs you hate so much.
