@JJ_Zalem A lot of the hype is just how different she is in comparison to other shonen series moms. Like if you made a vinn diagram with various shonen series mom characteristics such as "is alive," "is present in the hero's life," "gets along with her child," and "supports her child's decision while also having very reasonable concerns," she would probably be one of the few, if not the only, shonen series mom present in the circle where all those characteristics overlap.
Like many of the things about MHA, she's just a breath of fresh air compared to other series.
