I think resurrection is meant to trigger after self-immolation. Unlike video game world, I imagine that if you were to revive someone before toxics and poisons are cleaned from the body, they would still take effect.
The slime's poison is likely a chemical byproduct and not part of it's "cartilage" so it wouldn't liquify when the nucleus dies, nor, depending on the chemical properties, be broken up in a fire.

(Yes I'm actually going to take the science and plot of this one seriously, because it takes itself seriously. So I will give it that respect. That and I just love monster lore stuff.)
