Seriously, what is up with the hotsprings thing in the sequel? Why do they run a hotsprings? The entire series was about traveling this fictional Celtic or w/e country. Then Lawrence and Holo decide to asspull some random Nippon cultural heritage out of nowhere.

Not that I'm particularly upset, but it's weird.

@rozzak Lawrence has always said that a travelling merchant's ultimate dream is to have a store and settle down. Horo and Lawrence get married, have children and live happily in a peaceful town after travelling together for so long and realizing their feelings for each other seems to be a pretty fitting end for me. I am a little bit disappointed that the novel did not go into much details about their wedding and married life though.

Holo is from 'the North', in a land based on Medieval Europe. Basically she's from Scandinavia, and there are hotsprings there. Hotspring bathing is a thing in a lot of cultures, including the Romans, and they had a pretty large influence on Europe.

I love it when things are drawn very faithfully to original proportions. Many of the Naruto Doujinshis should learn from this. When faithfully drawn, it makes it more believable that this happened in the actual story.

so what does the 3 3's means

1st 3 the triangle has 3 points and 3 sides and is in the shape of holo's ear thus Illuminati is confirmed
2nd 3 Gaben is known to be a spice and wolf fan given the direct influence it had on him not releasing any 3rd release in any of his game but in an interview he will only release half-life 3 when illuminati is confirmed which we already did

The whole novel has been translated by VIZ, there's a fan translation also available, but I strongly recommend to purchase (... or download from BakaBt or anywhere) the VIZ version. It's the best light novel I've ever read, and yes, at the end of story, and years of travelling together, Lawrence finally gets to own a "store", which is a hot springs inn not too far away from Holo's home, Yoitsu. She found out about her past and friends, what happened to them, they invited many characters they met for the opening of the inn, they had a daughter a few years later, so all's right in the world. Lawrence will die, but Holo won't be alone.

PS. There's an extra volume coming out this year (or is it already out?), since it's the 10th anniversary. Maybe it'll shed some light on their married life, like @hafini wanted.

PS2. I can't like the anime. They omit so much stuff, whole volumes, really, to be enjoyed by a reader of the light novel. If they wanted to animate the whole light novel, 72 episodes would be enough, maybe.

@beane The romans had little to no influence on Scandinavia. The catholic church did, but unlike what the Romans do with conquering then making the locals like romans they mainly brought latin letters and catholicism to Scandinavia.

Basically Europe has also historically been big on bathhouses, not just Japan, especially in the north, which is where they are.
