@under18thenitsloli: actually according to the lore thats now been established due to Skyward Sword. Link HAS to be a male and Zelda HAS to be a female. There will always be a Link and always a Zelda. Their destinies are always intertwined along with whomever so happens to be the reincarnation of hatred (normally Ganonondorf however its been others on a few occasions). That being said though the game could follow Zelda instead if you want a female heroine.

@Kalezian, I have been playing Legend of Zelda since the first one and there has never been a game made by Nintendo that had you playing the game as Zelda or as a female (this excludes Hyrule Warriors as they didn't make it and Spirit Tracks you played as Link not Zelda just you sometimes controlled her). The games your thinking of are the cd-i's which none of the current fans really know about except the older ones and even fewer of them played those. They were also not made by Nintendo nor were they endorsed or supported by them either.

1. Super Princess Peach was a thing. It was a good game. But everyone who had been squalling for a female-led Mario series game conveniently forgot about it, so it didn't sell well.

2. Other M wasn't even made by Nintendo, and longtime fans hated it because it "chickified" the strong-willed heroine we had grown to love. Samus earned her reputation as a badass female protagonist in the Nintendo-made games. Your argument holds no water.
