As far as I've read, Poison was designed to be female, and was in Japan, but when Final Fight was released in the U.S. they made her a tranny because they were afraid of backlash for having violence against women. Remember, this was in the SNES days, so there was some concern that Americans would be upset over hitting a female enemy. @Unyltyan That's only kind of true. Poison was originally female and in the Japanese version of Final Fight she was a female. Only in the western version was she a he, because we couldn't take a female thug getting punched. Since then it has been contested whether it is a man or woman(which in my opinion it shouldn't because in the original version Poison was female and the only reason she was changed to male in a different version of the same game was pretty silly). Even Akira Nishitani constantly changed the character's gender multiple times until finally saying "fuck it" and leaving it up to the player. Poison was never ever a female in Japan. She has always been a "newhalf" which is Japan's way of calling her a transgendered woman a.k.a. Shemale.
