Welcome to the world of Japanese writing. Maybe you've read a shonen manga where one character slices another in half, and then pontificates for a page about how he did so? That's not exclusive to any one genre, it's just an aspect of the Japanese language/culture. For something related, look into the actual purpose of "desu" and other such sentence suffixes.
