I have to disagree. If you know the "source material", theres a lot of ripoffs in the design. "Rensouhou" (yes, Kantai considers it to be an actual character) is outright mimicked here.

it's a copied concept at most, but not a complete copy (visually), unlike the other Chinese KC rip offs

IMHO, they fucked up the ship's designs pretty badly. Yes, they're cute, I'll give you A+ on that. But that's about it. Kancolle designs each follows a set of rules... most of them. And that's what makes them visually appealing, appropiate in most cases, and has some kind of historic meaning in its designs.

The Chinese copy is just... I don't know, some of their armaments is just too bulky or uneven. There's something off with the Chinese copy... it's unbalanced in terms of design.

I understand being a designer is hard, but I think they should study how Kancolle designs their characters and literally re-design all their characters... or most.

Kancolle is a Axis game (the idea of created the game was to honor the IJN). It has IJN, then Kriegsmarine, Regia Marina but no Allies ships. The concept is resurrection ww2 IJN ships to girls in different world (so no one can say shit about the game. Its game in another world!) to fight again different enemy (the Allies Naval force resurrection as hatting demon ship girls) And that is also the reason why the game is limited access, no Axis hater from Allies nations or effected nations/country by Axis force would be able to complaint because of it Axis nature cause it can only access able in Japan.
Those who play the game out side Japan using vpn or cookie trick are know what they get so even if the company know they are player from outside Japan the company don't give a fuck.

Since Kancolle is Axis games, lots of players (especially those from Allies or some other country/nation that effected by Axis) want the Allies ship show up but the producer/creator company doesn't want to add the Allies in. The game is to honor IJN and now all the Axis naval.

So as fast as jump in for the chance to get money like the chinese are, they copy the concept, created this WG game with all the ships from Allies and Axis in ww2 so the player can have all Allies and Axis ships girls in one fleet. Who would play it? Those who like to play with both Allies and Axis ship girls and don't care if it is a chinese game.

i don't believe there was any huge money dump to get this game going, at least from what i see
it's F2P though(micro transactions sure, but kancolle has that as well)...and theres no region lock on it either. also it's mobile only. only barrier to entry is learning the chinese language( im chinese myself so theres not much there to stop me)
i also play kancolle, but since they will ban you if you attempt playing on mobile devices, i used this game as an alternative when im not at home.
sure the details in the artwork and whole feel of the game isn't on par with kancolle, but it's a good enough alternative for those who can't enter kancolle because of said restrictions

About Kancolle.

There was an official response from Kadokawa and DMM about foreign players. First of all why DMM only bans IP outside of Japan? its not because of the law nor is due to the gate of foreigners. It is mainly due to them having lots of 18+ H Games (AV etc), and they have been sued/hit by organization in the west which protects woman rights. So to avoid trouble they decided to block all IP which is not in Japan. Not just DMM but many other Eroge/Galgame companies have done the same. So outsiders like us have to use proxy to play. DMM have already said they won't stop us from doing so, about this we have someone who gave DMM support a call using Japanese and it has been confirmed.

The developer not sets servers to HK or Taiwan and ······· in fact in china ，the developer is real warship girls. because the p1 is Piracy version
The publisher（P1）want to control right of the developer and kick out the Moe Fantasy to control the game. And then they steal the character by artist of them.
