Isn't this incorrect? The Japanese got the word "Pan" for "Bread" from the Portuguese. The Portuguese word for Bread is "Pan." Its even pronounced the same as it is in Japanese. The Portuguese were also amongst the first Europeans to have extensive contact and trade with the Japanese, even being the ones that introduced the musket to the Japanese in 1543.
