You might of missed the part where it explained that the ring creates a contract between the dragon and human stating that they cannot hurt each other. Probably through some sort of magic...

Shlick all night in a dragon's stomach? Now there's a training I wouldn't mind doing. If only classes could be like that... get swallowed into the Math dragon one night, next night into the Geography dragon you go...
