This actually looks like it could work as a species (ignoring the bit about how it uses humans to reproduce- lets just slot that out for some small morsel sized male, which is fairly common in the animal kingdom).

The inner living area would be like a kangaroo's pouch basically, just with an extra set of eyes inside to watch the kid. With kids that fragile looking, it makes sense for them to do it too. And heck, having the husbands 'milk' kind of makes sense too (kid is too young to properly digest things- it is like the porn version of birds that feed chicks half digested food)

But yes, in an actual species, that would be too much trouble. Much easier to just go with touch and scent/taste, and he would have sensory deprivation where sight is concerned.
