Example #2189732 of how hentai authors have no idea how personal debt works. Minors cannot be guarantors, debt is not hereditary (in Japan and most civilized nations - Taiwan being a notable exception, and even that place has had some recent reforms to make it slightly less bullshit), and bankruptcy combined with complete asset liquidation (as page 2 illustrates) eliminates all liability. This one doesn't even have the lame excuses of the protagonist desperately trying to hold onto some important family heirloom, or the creditors being yakuza and thus uncaring of the legal niceties. It's just stupid. Authors should either think their justification through or just give up trying - a half-assed explanation like this story provides causes more problems than it solves.

Edit: Wow, massive downvotes. Let me explain further.

Renunciation of Inheritance only affects inheritance from deceased individuals. In the case of this story, the dad just disappeared and is thus not dead, therefore nothing can pass to a child. Additionally, the clock doesn't start when somebody croaks - it's when somebody learns that they have inheritence. In other words, when the executor of the will (or the court-appointed representative in the case of will-less deaths) contacts the person who has the potential to inherit the assets and/or the debts of the deceased.

But, for the sake of argument (even though Daddy aint dead), let's assume that Japanese inheritence law applies. Once the heir receives the property of the deceased, the creditors must make an application for separation of property to satisfy the debt. The story isn't clear if the asset seizure happened before or after this imaginary passage of property from parent to child, but that's immaterial. What happens next is a two-step process: first the court sees if the debts can be satisfied via solely the inherited property, and if it cannot, then they go on to see if the heir's personal property can satisfy the debt. But here's the catch: this can't end up negative. And what does our heroine own? Zilch. Nada. Nothing. At the very most, even if we make the ridiculous assumption that Japanese inheritence law applies, an heir cannot have everything taken from them and then still be left owing money. See Articles 947, 948, and 949 of the Japanese Civil Code for more details.

Furthermore, personal bankruptcy is an absolute shield against outstanding debts, though it won't protect your guarantors. Household furnishings, clothing, appliances, and a limited amount of cash (around $10k) are exempt from proceedings. Weirdly, a debtor's home is not exempt, making one wonder what the bankrupt person is going to do with all their household items but no household...

So our heroine here has had several ways out of her mess. She shouldn't have gotten into it in the first place since her dad should have just immediately declared personal bankruptcy after his company went under (assuming he personally guaranteed the corporate loans - not an uncommon situation in Japan). Second, she could have renounced her inheritence if we make the extreme logical leap that he has been declared dead and she was the sole heir. Third, she can declare bankruptcy at any time and escape her living hell.

minors(nor adults) don't know the ins and out of law. you can say whatever you want and make them believe it basically. a sheltered rich girl is easy prey. i imagine she went to some rich girl school which cost an ass load in tuition. how is she going to pay for it by herself? she doesn't have a place to live either. so he just tells her take responsibility and work for him and then he abuses her cause she's ignorant and then learned helplessness kicks in.

if a society has yakuza running around then "legal protection" is pretty much worthless unless it's against a nobody with zero influence.

read between the lines and this story makes sense.

@b0rk

Don't be so ignorant, for Heaven's sake. "Debt is not hereditary in Civilized nations"? Please. Even in the US the IRS has been targeting taxpayers to pay for their deceased parents' decades-old debts.

In Japan, YOU CAN INHERIT YOUR PARENTS DEBTS. When somebody dies, and if they leave debts behind, their heirs will have to take over the debts. The only way to avoid that is to give up their inheritance rights within 3 months of the death's date. Generally people don't know about that law or they are so affected by their loved ones death that the least of their concern is to investigate about inheritance laws, so it's extremely common to shoulder your parent's death in Japan. (that's why there are countless manga, anime, movies and Live Action series about shouldering your parent's debts). Of course, that doesn't really takes into account the unique Japanese cultural landscape of honor and shame that also forces the heir to pay for their family's debts even without the law forcing them.

For more information, read "Renunciation of Inheritance in Japan" (How to avoid taking over the decedent’s debts) http://www.sumikawa.net/?p=360

Next time AT LEAST RESEARCH A LITTLE BIT, please.

You know I would love for there to be a sequel where the old diff's calling off the search for the girl's father backfires spectacularly on him.

Guys, come on, stop trying to bring real-world debt logic into hentai world debt logic. Debt in hentai is like joining a street gang, its blood-in, blood-out. Though I think it would make for a hilarious premise if a scenario like the maid-slave thing in this manga occurred, then halfway through one maid researches debt severance, tells the other maids how its done, and then have them all just quit on the spot and cut away from their master.

@Kenabrx

Not really, its just same old same old. Sure, this genre isn't nearly as common as "vanilla," harem, or other "happy sex" but there's still a crap ton of it.

This is shit, and not because I "feel hurted" by its contents, it just is shitty. As someone else said, "not enough actual fucking", it's almost all about disgusting "sexual" practice that just asian people can like. But when the author thought it stupid enough, at the end he put the guy saying "I want foreing toys" like saying "hardcore shit"... are you kidding? You think foreign are as fucked up in the head as you? My god... they should know how twisted are them.
