Okay, serious question here, with websites like Patreon, Kickstarter, and the like, why do some artists still feel the need to have a "donation" pool for their comics? With the websites mentioned, one can not only give money to their favorite artist to help with their projects, but also get products and/or services in return for their love and loyalty. However, here it's just "give me money or I won't make comics."

Update (pg - 5): I honestly did not think the sex would come that fast. From how the beginning of the comic presented itself I thought it would dwell more into questioning one's sexual orientation when faced with the information that someone you were attracted to turned out to be the same gender as yourself. I guess I was just reading too much into this.

Update (pg - to be continued): "too embarassed to take it further than friendship?" The bird practically forced himself on the canine boy and now the story decides that he's shy and doesn't want to take the relationship further? Man the personalities in this story seem to change on a dime when it suits the plot.

And it's not too drastic a cost. Most artists I know charge around $30 for a full colour picture of a single character. Factoring formatting, text editing, and sizing the actual drawings themselves, not to mention actually drawing the damn comic pages can easily run up the costs thanks to the power of "trying to earn a living wage"

It was $150 3 days ago when I first posted this gallery. Also, this was initially going to be a 4, then 5, then 6, now a 7 page comic. If you looked at the descriptions of all his postings, you'd have seen the differences. However, he has just changed the donation amount since yesterday and some other details.

"Redrew the cover a little bit since I changed Alexis' hair a bit (These are works in progress, a lot can change between this version and the final version). Right now the comic is going to be 6 pages long, if you want to see more I'll be adding an additional page for every 100$ donated!"

In a way I kinda have to agree with Unyltyan but the way they put it was totally uncalled for. A $100 per page for a 7 page black and white comic is a bit of a joke. I have seen other artists do commissions that are colored for much less and much better quality.

@Razzlepie: Yes I have seen the colored cover, but let me ask you this. How many comics are out there that have a cover that is colored but have black and white art in them? I honestly never even heard of this Syynx dude before and judging by his pricing and what I'm actually seeing art wise I'm not all that impressed. But that's just my opinion. To each his own.

I will agree that the $100 per page is a bit steep, but if you bothered to actually visit Syynx's FA page, you'd have read that he is only going to release the color versions of the comic from now on. So the comic may be black and white NOW, but after a while it will be colored.

The price here is steep for what you get, but having a donation pool is totally sensible, because they can always go do something else for money. People tend to forget that artists gotta eat. Well, at least some artists.

I really enjoy the comic and the budding if rough art style to me it gives it character.

On the price thing, learning to draw takes a life time, and if you want good porn you can't expect it to be done by hobbyists, and if that's the case they're going to have to eat somehow. I know several furry artists and I have to say you guys are being hard on him. A full color comic page can take a professional 10+ hours to do. At $15 an hour, which is a pretty shitty rate for a profession that takes tons of skill, that'd be $150 per page. Assuming he could even get the exposure to sell that much and assuming he makes as excellent use of his time as some of the best furry artists out there. Assuming he does, at $100 per page he's not making much better than minimum wage. But by all means be ANGRY he is just rolling in money for it.

Maybe he should switch to patreon or a form of support people like more, because honestly that pays WAY MORE for the few artists I've seen take up patreon than he is getting here, and they get thanks instead of illogical vitriol. Just remember this and commissions used to be the only tools an artist had and for some it's all they know. Shitty pay or not.
