Going to have to agree with moonflow here.

This is not only expanding the intro; it's still different in the end, being that it was completely redrawn/reorganized, as opposed to simply more pages added to the old ones. It's like the pilot chapter of the Naruto manga vs the serialized version. Same artist, story (overall), but separated by upgraded art, and a retelling.

There's no need to replace the Sputnik intro altogether.
