I think the transformation thing is really a furry thing when you get down to it, they are a furry for a reason. I had a roommate who insisted he had the spirit of a wolf and would often stay up late doing weird stuff like meditating and howling at the moon and just wandering around the forest.

At one point this guy even admitted that if he had a female dog he'd most likely fuck it.

In reality this guy was a loner, he only had one girlfriend in his entire life, he worked at a shitty factory and we both lived in a shitty apartment. He spent most of his days alone, in his room, playing World of Warcraft or something and it was like pulling teeth trying to get him to come out and be social.

When that SOE game came out where you could play as furries, he jumped at the opportunity to do so.

I really think the transformation thing boils down to people not liking who they are, or their reality, and would love for nothing more then to be able to change who they are, or the reality of their situation. In the example of this comic the female character abandons her humanity with very little pushing involved. I don't really think people who are happy with themselves or their lives, would ever dream of some of the fucked up shit these people write and draw.

When I think about these things and then see their artwork, well, a lot of times it makes me realize how pathetic as a whole the furry culture is.

That's a very poor generalization.

Yes, there are fringe elements in the furry fandom who claim to have wolf-spirits or what-not, which is definitely crazy, if not exponentially crazier than any other form of spiritual belief system. Yes, there are some who use furry as an escape from a miserable situation, but lots of perfectly healthy things can be abused as escapes. These people hardly represent a majority of the furry fandom, in much the way that, say, not all atheists are superior douchebags and not all people of Arab descent are suicide bombers. These people exist, and for whatever reason have conquered a noteworthy part of the narrative, but are not the majority.

Furry's a kink and/or an art subject like any other, and I'd advise against writing off all furry-fans as pathologic just 'cause you knew one furry who was a miserable introvert. You don't want to judge how pathetic a group is by its most pathetic members, 'cause there's more than sufficient unwarranted stereotyping of the neckbeardy, basement-dwelling anime fan to go around re: a hentai site.

Not that I'm defending this comic in particular - The art is really pretty poor and kind of disconcertingly uneven. But attack the comic, not the kink.
