Usually the lack of detail on male characters is to make it easier for the predominantly male audience to identify/project themselves onto the character, would be my guess, and it also saves a ton of work if only one character has to be drawn in detail. Can't complain too much, at least he this isn't so ugly that looking at him makes you impotent for the evening, which is all too often the case with male characters in hentai doujins.
