@OrangeDude - Shimakaze is a ship from before the end of WW2/pre-Westernisation of Japan. As a result, the name on the ring was written right to left, which is a result of Japanese writing traditionally being in vertical lines, from right to left. When the US defeated Japan, they adopted the left to right method for horizontal writing.
