Yakumi Sarai always brings out the "youkai-ness" of Touhou characters that we usually don't see. It's both disturbing and refreshing and in this case a little heart-warming.

This artist is amazing. His vision of Gensokyo is at once horrifying and somehow so beautiful and evocative in his works. Even the Byakuren-girls one.

To me he's really captured how Gensokyo really is inhabited by monsters and creature of nightmare. Who are still really are all cute little girls.
