How the hell are we supposed to view this when we don't have glasses?

You can't view these properly without red-cyan glasses. It is the most inexpensive form of 3d. You can buy a pair online for about 3 bucks. The downside is that you lose a lot of color information.

If you wear red-cyan glasses for long enough, your eyes individually adjust to the filters and it is really trippy when you take them off. The eye with the red lens will see things as tinted blue, and the blue lens eye will see things as tinted red. Close one eye at a time to see the effect. This isn't damaging in any way; it's just a fun way in which your brain automatically compensates :)
