I agree Ive never read a rewrite and never plan to. How would anyone like a rewrite of their favorite novel by some one other than the original author. In the end its just a fake.

Go, Team Vanilla! Most rewrites are bizarre, and a good portion of what's left are funny for all the wrong reasons. If there's anything like a good rewrite, it's because it will be closer to a translate, with the stuff that can't be carried over cultural lines replaced with as much care as possible as almost makes no nevermind. But those are rare as rare can be.
