What happened at the end of Kuon's story? And what happen to the boy's mother he was trying to find?

Kobayashi Takumi story ended with a disapointment. The justification on the ending was kinda quickly, boring and how about the other caracters? Maybe missing Vitaman 2016-10 had some conclusion.

But I really love Kobayashi sensei art.

@hansburger, There were a few things that I thought were a disappointment for the ending such as being pretty abrupt. We should have gotten a little more indication it would end soon since the plot was going smoothly. Also, we should have been shown what happened to some of the side characters. I'm guessing that it ended quicker than expected because of low volume sales. Other than that, I thought it was beautiful that after 15 years passed, the main character Sugisaku ended up with Noriko and she gave him her dream of being a manga artist because it gave Sugisaku so much purpose when he started drawing while also relieving him of his depression. Sugisaku's acting very considerate of her and thinks of himself as a weary traveler and Noriko was the lone star in a black night that saved him.

I'm pretty sure this is what happened. Rurika genuinely loved Sugisaku and she did want to quit her job in the 2016-09 issue to be an English teacher. But at the meeting we weren't shown, she was told that she couldn't due to all the outstanding deals and products that she had to release like an album. And if she quit, she'd face harsh severance penalties along with ruining the careers of the people around her. Also, there was the regressive rule that Pop idols couldn't have boyfriends. Rurika likely decided she had to stay in show business and had to give up Sugisaku hoping that someday she could get over him. But she decided she'd give him the best and most romantic moment of his life before she left him. So she lied to Sugisaku that the meeting went fine and planned their Summer vacation together in Okinawa where they made love on the beach. After they got back, Rurika left in the middle of the night because she couldn't bear to say goodbye to him. Sugisaku frantically searched for her for a month and then learned she quit school from the bartender which shocked him. Around a week before classes started again, Rurika sent a farewell letter to Sugisaku explaining all of the contractual obligations she had and why she had to remain a Pop Idol and that she was so sorry that she had to leave him. Sugisaku was devastated after reading the letter and didn't show up to any classes for weeks. Noriko was worried and despite feeling awkward over the fact that Sugisaku rejected her offer to start dating, she went to his apartment and found him in a complete mess. Sugisaku begged her to teach him how to draw manga as an emotional outlet. Noriko observed him thinking he looked like a man possessed by something and thought he would definitely be a manga artist in the future.

15 years passed and Sugisaku is now a manga artist while Noriko works at a bank. She offers to draw occasionally, but Sugisaku doesn't want that thinking it would be too tiring after working all day at her job. The two of them are deeply in love and plan to get married at the end of the month. Sugisaku is deeply grateful to Noriko because he felt as though she saved his life by teaching him how to draw manga which he believed gave his life a new purpose.

Rurika had a brief run of popularity at the beginning of her career. But I'm guessing her appearance started to become less cute and she was forced out of show business. So she ended up opening a hostess club and had to have an affair with a rich guy in order to get enough financial backing (It's the scene at the beginning of the first chapter). She hates how her life turned out and keeps thinking about Sugisaku and the last night they spent together on the beach and desperately wishes that she could go back to those days. If you think that she didn't love him, the little vial in her locker is the star shaped sand from their night on the beach that she kept for all those years. But I'm really happy Sugisaku managed to come out of his terrible depression thanks to Noriko because drawing Manga managed to become an emotional outlet for him and he eventually fell in love with her and is now engaged to her. I honestly never though something like this would have a deeply emotional ending so I have to thank Kobayashi Takumi for this work.

@superguy11 It never says explicitly what happened to Honoka (the mother), but as far as the world knows, she and Shida (the guy helping her) died in the fire, so they'll presumably live somewhat normally under new identities. As for Iori, he recorded Misora's gloating with his last breath, which opened up an investigation revealing everything, and she was arrested (getting off easy, IMO).

Jump ahead a few years, Anzu and Yousuke are together and having a baby, and Kanon has a daughter of her own (Saya), though it never says who the father is.

My thoughts: Child-Saya is the daughter of Kanon and Iori, from when they had sex at the beginning of the chapter, since Sister-Saya appeared and touched Kanon's stomach during it (and I can't picture Kanon getting together with anyone else that quickly). So I think of her as either the daughter of Iori, Kanon, AND sister-Saya, or as sister-Saya's reincarnation. Either way, though Iori and sister-Saya are dead, they live on in a way through the child-Saya (and child-Iori), so a somewhat sweet ending, all things considered.
