That's false. That's only true for UDON comics which are not canon. In canon Morrigan can absorb energy including soul energy by a simple kiss, this is confirmed in All about vampire and her ending in DS1.
But she doesn't usually kill anyone, as she would rather have a fight with them. For Morrigan the thrill of fights is above all.
So if someone attacks her, she would rather fight them.
